STEAM Imaging V – Holding the ‘Digital’ in Medicine to Account!

IDI (#designinformatics) is inviting masters & PhD students to an exciting new Creator in Residence: STEAM Imaging V – Holding the ‘Digital’ in Medicine to Account!

STEAM Imaging is a residency program at the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Medicine MEVIS, running for the fifth time. STEAM Imaging V addresses not only a timely theme but, for the first time, invites student creators from wider fields of expertise beyond art and design by inviting masters & PhD students at Edinburgh College of Art and wider University of Edinburgh. The developed artwork will be exhibited and discussed at InSpace Gallery at IDI !

The STEAM Imaging residencies lead to vital art science explorations in intensive exchange with a dedicated and experienced SciArt team at Fraunhofer MEVIS, and produce relevant and intriguing artworks addressing questions about digital medicine from various perspectives.

(See examples here on pages 4/5, 8/9, 10/11, 16/17, 22/23: https://s.fhg.de/Vi7 )

The residency program aims to contribute to contextualization, self-efficacy, and diversity in digital medicine and STEM sciences #STEAM. An integral part is an interaction with school students of our partner Walle School Center and the broader public related to the artwork development, jointly with MEVIS scientists.

STEAM Imaging V is hosted by Fraunhofer MEVIS in collaboration with the Institute for Design Informatics, the International Fraunhofer Talent School Bremen, and the Schulzentrum Walle, supported by Ars Electronica.

This is a timely and important topic! Looking forward to seeing the outcome and am delighted and curious to guide the process as a mentor at Fraunhofer MEVIS!
