On October 6, I had the great pleasure of welcoming representatives from the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI)(工業技術研究院, 工研院), Ying-Wei Lin, Hsianglan Shih, and Lynn YuLin Chien to Bremen. The renowned Taiwanese research institute will become a partner of Fraunhofer MEVIS' STEAM Imaging VII Creative-in-Residence Program 2026, which takes place as part of the International Fraunhofer Talent School Bremen in collaboration with the Oberschule am Waller Ring.

The focus of the meeting was an exchange on the parallels and differences between the STEAM Imaging Program and ITRI’s Artists Residency in Technology Lab Project. Both initiatives offer unique opportunities for creative research.
Together, we reflected on the artists’ journey during their residency in the STEAM Imaging program, which enables intensive exchange on equal footing between scientists, artists, and young talents from diverse cultural backgrounds, while providing space for creative hands-on experiences and collaborative learning. To conclude, we initiated the process of identifying themes for the joint STEAM Imaging VII call, which will be launched in spring 2026 in Taiwan.
