In cooperation with Fraunhofer MEVIS and Oberschule Waller Ring, I lead the development of the upper secondary school specialization Digital Medicine. This program emphasizes the importance of computer science and mathematics, alongside other subjects, for biology and medicine, and opens up new career perspectives in healthcare beyond the traditional medical degree. As part of the mathematics and computer science curriculum, a three-part AI module was implemented in the 2024/25 pilot run, building on topics covered in biology lessons.

Teacher Viktoria Zoeger presented our poster (in German) on AI-Supported Histopathology: Hands-On Teaching for Tissue Analysis.

The KIBIS 2025 conference explores how AI can be meaningfully integrated into education from both research and practical perspectives. The scientific program is organized in cooperation with the Arbeitskreis KI in Schulen of the Gesellschaft für Informatik (AI in Schools working group of the German Informatics Society), while the practical program is coordinated with the KI@School (AI@School) pilot project.

The school specialization is supported by the International Fraunhofer Talent School Bremen: STEAM Imaging and the BMFTR-funded subproject #MOIN Campus-Neighborhood-Visibility.
